We’ve recently returned from our annual family trip to Lake Huron, where — instead of just sipping brewskies on the beach* — we spend the week making art together. We’ve been doing this for over a decade now, with every family member bringing their painting, woodworking, sewing, and so on. This song from Tangled actually nicely sums up what we do all day:
We also work together on one big venture each year. Early on, our group projects were simple. We made a little scrapbook one year followed by a banner the next. Over time, our schemes have gotten steadily grander. The video for this year’s main event is still in post-production, but I thought I’d go ahead and share last year’s video with you. Using an old tablecloth and a little creativity, we put together a puppet theater production of Peggy Rathmann’s classic tale, Goodnight Gorilla.
Keep your eyes peeled for the anteater in his custom-made armadillo costume. Enjoy!
*It should be noted that we do also sip brewskies on the beach.
