Today we’ll be bisecting an angle, i.e. cutting an angle in half without using a protractor to measure. Â Begin with any angle and draw an arc from the vertex (V) such that your arc crosses both rays of the angle. Â Call the points where your arc crosses those rays points A and B.
At this point, notice that we have constructed a segment from point A to point B. Â To bisect angle V, we’re simply going to follow the steps to bisect segment AB.
Place your compass point on A and draw an arc. Â Then, keeping the same compass opening, draw a matching arc from point B. Call the point where these two arcs cross each other C.
Connect C to V and you have bisected your angle! Â Congratulations!
