I grew up largely in private school, with the exception of four years in public high school. I was Valedictorian of my class and a National Merit Scholar, and I later graduated from Hope College magna cum laude with a 4.0 in my major field of study, English literature, so I guess you could say school and I have always gotten along.
I am currently a veteran of over twelve years of teaching, during which time I have worked in public and private education from 5th to 12th grade, specializing in writing, literature, and mathematics. I have taught everything from ELL and AP Literature & Composition to multiplication tables and the quadratic formula — with a few colorful side notes, like ceramics and ballet.
I now serve in a small Catholic school where I teach 5th – 8th grade mathematics and World History from 8:00-3:00.
The rest of the time, I teach my own kids everything.
