Albert Einstein said, “Play is the highest form of research.”  This is most true when our children play with toys that allow them to create, experiment, and solve problems.

Our three-year-old is enchanted with his wooden train set these days.  He’s developing his understanding of some basic engineering as he figures out where to place supports under bridges and elevated sections of track.  He’s using geometry when he decides which pieces he needs in order to make loops of track connect to each other.  He’s experimenting with different options and problem-solving all the time.

And he is having a lot of fun.

What brain-building toys are your kids playing with today?
