Albert Einstein said, “Play is the highest form of research.” Â This is most true when our children play with toys that allow them to create, experiment, and solve problems.
Our three-year-old is enchanted with his wooden train set these days. Â He’s developing his understanding of some basic engineering as he figures out where to place supports under bridges and elevated sections of track. Â He’s using geometry when he decides which pieces he needs in order to make loops of track connect to each other. Â He’s experimenting with different options and problem-solving all the time.
And he is having a lot of fun.
